September 2026 - Filming Location Photos Then and Now

This month we hop a flight to Honolulu, Hawaii to take a look at two filming locations, then and now, from the 1972 episode Hawaii Bound from the TV series The Brady Bunch.

Then it's back to South Central Los Angeles in 1931 for a look at the streetcars that used to crisscross all of the Los Angeles area a century ago, courtesy of the Charley Chase comedy movie Hasty Marriage.

For March 2025, I've put together four Los Angeles area filming locations videos which cover the years 1928 through 1935.

These filming locations used by The Three Stooges, Our Gang / The Little Rascals and Laurel and Hardy are still standing today and are easy to visit. However, the filming locations in the Charley Chase movie have undergone substantial changes since they were captured on film in 1933.

Let's take a look at four filming locations around the Los Angeles area this month.

We start off our tour with a visit to a backyard in the Los Angeles area town of Culver City from the 1938 Our Gang / The Little Rascals movie Canned Fishing. We move just a few blocks away from this filming location to catch up with Laurel and Hardy careening down busy Washington Blvd in their 1930 comedy Hog Wild.

Next, we trek out to an iconic filming location used in the 1967 episode Arena from the original Star Trek TV series.

Wrapping things up is a filming location on a street corner in the historic Whitley Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles for a scene from the 1930 Charley Chase movie Fast Work.

Join me on a filming locations tour around the Los Angeles area! This month, we'll go back to 1938 and the Our Gang / The Little Rascals comedy Canned Fishing to visit a real-world backyard of a home in Culver City that was used as a filming location and is still standing today.

Then we'll meet up with Laurel and Hardy in a runaway car to look at filming locations from Culver City to the University of Southern California campus in their 1930 movie Hog Wild.

After that, we'll time travel to the 23rd century - well actually 1967 - to an iconic filming location that's been used in countless movies since the silent film days, in the Star Trek TV episode Arena.

Charley Chase finishes up our filming locations tour this month as we follow him around Los Angeles in his 1930 movie Fast Work.

This month's filming locations photo spotlight is up, and I've got some amazing then and now views of the Los Angeles area from 1924 to 1939.

The Three Stooges get things rolling with a scene filmed at a historic apartment building in Hollywood, followed by a visit to a beautiful park in the Boyle Heights neighborhood east of downtown LA in an early Laurel and Hardy "talkie" movie.

It's then off to the very rural Westside of town with the Our Gang / The Little Rascals kids, where we take a look at how one of the first streets in the area has changed in the past century.

And finally, Charley Chase gives us an extraordinary look at a neighborhood literally being built as they filmed scenes in 1924.

Join me on a tour of filming locations on the Westside of Los Angeles as we go back to 1929 and 1930.

We'll start off the month with the Our Gang / The Little Rascals kids in one of their early "talkie" movies, Boxing Gloves from 1929. Then, with the holiday season upon us, it's time to follow along with Laurel and Hardy as they try to sell Christmas trees, with spectacularly unsuccessful results!

Finally, we do a deep dive into the filming locations used in the 1930 Nat Carr movie Traffic Tangle, a comedy short filmed entirely on location in downtown Culver City, California. This film gives us great looks at the downtown core along with a nearby residential neighborhood. The changes - and lack of changes - that you'll see are quite interesting.

This month, we're looking at filming locations from the Los Angeles area to New Jersey!

The Laurel and Hardy silent film Putting Pants On Philip is up first with a whole bunch of filming locations in the Los Angeles area town of Culver City. We then hop across the country to visit a New Jersey town which was the filming location for a pivotal scene in the popular TV series The Sopranos.

Charlie Chaplin causes mayhem at the beach in his 1915 movie By The Sea while the Our Gang / The Little Rascals kids have built their own railroad, but the train jumps the tracks and takes them on a wild ride around the Westside of LA.
