When the legendary comedian Charley Chase filmed Innocent Husbands on location in 1925, the Culver Hotel was barely a year old. As a result, this silent film offers modern historians and movie buffs one of the earliest known celluloid captures of the iconic triangular hotel building.

The Plot
The Gang have been put in charge of babysitting Wheezer. Unfortunately, Wheezer has the urge to punch anyone who gets to close and the Gang soon grow tired of keeping an eye on him, which is when the real trouble begins!

This was the fourth Our Gang / The Little Rascals movie that a very young Bobby 'Wheezer' Hutchins appeared in.
High Above The Streets Of Los Angeles
As part of our Los Angeles filming locations tour, this then and now look at the 1927 film The Old Wallop takes us to the final scenes in the movie where Wheezer has escaped from his babysitters (the Gang) and Joe and Farina go out looking for him and end up on top of an under construction skyscraper!

Laurel and Hardy - Helpmates (1932)
The Plot
Mrs. Hardy is away visiting her mother and in her absence Mr. Hardy throws a wild party. The morning after, the house is trashed and Mrs. Hardy sends a telegram that she's coming home early - TODAY! Mr. Hardy calls Mr. Laurel over to help clean up the house, with the expected catastrophic results.
One Of The Best Laurel And Hardy Comedies
The legendary comedy duo Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy pretty much have this classic short, Helpmates, to themselves. The film features only brief, memorable appearances by veteran comic supporting actors Bobby Burns, Bob Callahan, and Blanche Payson (prompting Stan's famous line, "Isn't she nice!").
The Plot: A Recipe For Comedy Disaster
The storyline kicks off while Mrs. Hardy is away visiting her mother in Chicago. Taking full advantage of his temporary freedom, Mr. Hardy throws a wild, raucous party.
The next morning, surrounded by a completely trashed house, Ollie receives a telegram: His wife is returning home early that very afternoon! Mr. Laurel dutifully arrives to help clean up the mess, but his well-intentioned "assistance" ultimately ends up burning down the entire house.
Hal Roach Studios And The Nearby Culver City Neighborhood
The climax of Helpmates gives film historians a fantastic, historic look at the residential Culver City neighborhood directly adjacent to the famous Hal Roach Studios lot.
In the movie's final scene, Mr. Hardy returns home from the train station only to discover that Mr. Laurel wanted to light a nice, cozy fire—and instead reduced the family home to a smoldering ruin.
Preservation Fact:
This sequence offers incredible vintage views of two specific homes in the neighborhood as they looked in 1932. Amazingly, both of these historic structures are still standing today, as revealed in this Then and Now Quick Preview Filming Locations Video.

The Taxi Boys - Taxi Barons (1933)
The Plot
This classic comedy short kicks off as slapstick duo Ben Blue and Billy Gilbert are driving along in their cab and accidentally side-swipe a policeman's motorcycle. The enraged cop immediately gives chase, pursuing them on a wild ride through the historic streets of Culver City.

Our final stop on this month's Los Angeles area filming locations tour takes us along with The Taxi Boys through the heart of Downtown Culver City, California, in their classic 1933 movie, Taxi Barons.
