This month we start our filming locations then and now tour by heading out of this world and into The Twilight Zone and the classic episode You Drive. Up next, it's a visit to a Laurel and Hardy filming location at a real-world posh mansion in their 1930 comedy Another Fine Mess.
The journey back in time continues on the east side of Downtown Los Angeles as we look at a filming location from the 1930 Our Gang / The Little Rascals movie Pups Is Pups.
Max Davidson takes us to Culver City, California for a walk down Main Street in his 1928 movie Dumb Daddies.

The Twilight Zone - You Drive (1964)
The Plot
A man driving home from work is involved in a hit and run accident and attempts to conceal the crime. While the man has no conscience, his car does and it proceeds to stalk him!
Twilight Zone Filming Location: Carlson Park In Culver City
Question: In 1964 The Twilight Zone episode You Drive, what was the filming location where the car struck the the kid on the bicycle?
Answer: The filming location of this scene was the intersection of Motor Avenue and Braddock Drive at Carlson Park in Culver City, California.
The residential neighborhood right across the street from the MGM studios in Culver City, California is where most of the filming for this episode took place. The initial hit and run scene's filming location (shown in the photo above) was Carlson Park, while the car "stalking" scenes were filmed a few blocks away.

Laurel and Hardy - Another Fine Mess (1930)
The Plot
While being chased by a cop, Laurel and Hardy hide in an unoccupied mansion. Unfortunately, a couple show up looking to rent the place. Mr. Laurel impersonates the butler (AND the maid!) and Mr. Hardy assumes the identity of the owner, Colonel Buckshot.
A Beautiful Los Angeles Mansion As Filming Location
Question: In 1930 Laurel and Hardy movie Another Fine Mess, there are several scenes outside an opulent mansion. Where was the filming location of these scenes?
Answer: The filming location of these scenes was at the mansion located at 3500 West Adams Boulevard in Los Angeles, California.
The filming location then and now photo above shows Stan Laurel as the Butler greeting the couple (Thelma Todd and Charles K. Gerrard) who has come to rent the house. This is the entrance to the historic mansion at 3500 West Adams Blvd in the West Adams Historic District of Los Angeles. The mansion was built in 1910 and miraculously is not only standing today, but in great condition and exactly as it appears in the film.

The Plot
Wheezer is looking all over the area for his puppies, who have run away (he does end up finding them by the end of the movie).
The Filming Location: The Industrial Side Of Downtown Los Angeles

Answer: The filming location of this scene was a 749 Temple Street in Los Angeles, California. The photo above shows this filming location from Pups Is Pups, then and now.
In this film, we get great views of the industrial side of Downtown Los Angeles adjacent to the Los Angeles River as Wheezer searches for his lost pups. Most of the area has been transformed into much less gritty-looking light industrial uses today, though as you can see in the photo above, one of the buildings seen in the film at 749 Turner Street (today's Temple Street) is largely unchanged.

Max Davidson - Dumb Daddies (1928)
The Plot
Max mistakenly believes his son has murdered a woman. But in reality, his son was rehearsing for a play with a mannequin. Finished with the rehearsal, the son puts the mannequin in a sack. Max takes the sack and heads out to find a place to "hide the body."
Historic Main Street In Culver City

Answer: The filming location of this scene was in front of 3830 Main Street in Culver City, California.
In the then and now filming location photo above, Max is in front of 3830 Main Street in downtown Culver City, California and we are looking towards Culver Blvd and beyond that, Washington Blvd. Main Street was a very popular filming location in the 1920s and early 1930s and if you walk down Main Street today, every building and alley that is seen in this film still stands today.
