Introduction
We're covering about 5,000 miles this month as we look at filming locations from New Jersey to Honolulu!
First up is a visit to Northwest New Jersey to track the filming locations then and now used in the 1983 Cyndi Lauper music video for her song Time After Time.
It's then off to Los Angeles to look at two movie's filming locations: The 1932 Our Gang / The Little Rascals movie Fish Hooky and the classic Laurel and Hardy comedy The Music Box.
This month's filming locations tour wraps up in Honolulu, Hawaii in the 1968 episode Battle Of Waikiki from the TV series I Dream Of Jeannie.

The Plot
Cyndi leaves her family to go on a journey.
Rural Northwest New Jersey As Filming Location
The music video used the quaint town of Wharton for the filming locations in the early scenes. Wharton hasn't changed very much, as you'll see in this Quick Preview Video.
The train station scenes filmed on location at the historic Morristown train station in Morristown.
On a personal note, this music video's film locations are in the area where I grew up!

Our Gang / The Little Rascals - Fish Hooky (1933)
The Plot
The Little Rascals skip school to go fishing, but their timing is awful because the teacher surprises the class by taking them to the amusement park at the beach!
Two Filming Locations Now Lost
When Fish Hooky was made in 1933, the two main filming locations used in this movie were on the verge of being lost forever.
Specifically, picturesque Ballona Creek which served as the filming location for the fishing scenes was widened, deepened and lined in concrete just a few years after filming. And the historic Venice Amusement Pier's roller coaster at the end of the pier was demolished just a few months after it served as the movie location for this film.

Laurel and Hardy - The Music Box (1932)
The Plot
Laurel and Hardy try to deliver a piano to a house that is located at the top of a very long set of steps.
This Laurel and Hardy movie won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Subject - Comedy of 1932.
The Famous Laurel And Hardy Steps
If you find yourself in Los Angeles and have time to visit only one filming location, this should be it! Amazingly, not only are the steps still there, but the homes seen in the movie clustered along the bottom of the steps are still standing.
The Music Box steps are a major draw to the neighborhood and have even been recognized by the City of Los Angeles with a commemorative plaque.

I Dream of Jeannie - Battle of Waikiki (Part 1) (1968)
The Plot
In the 1968 season, the show shot two episodes in Honolulu, Hawaii.
This episode has Jeannie bringing back King Kamehameha, the first ruler of the Kingdom of Hawaii and plays on his reactions to mid-20th century Honolulu.
Honolulu As Filming Location
This Quick Preview Video focuses in on the scenes filmed at the Ilikai Hotel. Since Battle Of Waikiki was filmed here in 1968, there have been some changes due to remodeling, but the basic structure remains the same.
