It's rare that a filming location from a movie made in the 1920s still stands today. Fortunately, both of the homes featured in the classic Laurel and Hardy comedy movie Big Business (1929) have survived into the 21st century. Unfortunately, the home used as a filming location early in the movie - 3404 Caroline Avenue - was sold in November of 2024 and demolished soon after.

I visited this site in 2017 to photograph it for my first filming location then and now video for Big Business. What was planned to be just a routine filming location visit of about 5 minutes to photograph the house from several different angles turned into an hour's conversation with the nice little old lady who owned the house! She came out of the house as I was lining up my last shot and asked if I was "one of the Laurel and Hardy people." I said "yes, I guess so!" She then proceeded to tell me about all the people who've come by to see the house and how she was proud to be a long-term caretaker of this historic residence.

Unfortunately, the owner passed away and the house was sold. The new owners either didn't know the place 3404 Caroline Avenue held in film history - or didn't care. It was demolished in early 2025. The photo gallery below is from the sales listing and gives us amazing view inside this historic home.
